OPP Issues Wildlife Advisory

Northern OPP detachments are again advising drivers to be careful on northern roads and to keep an eye out for any wildlife.

Now that temperatures are mild, more and more wildlife will be active and possibly wandering onto roads and highways.

The OPP says despite the placement of deer and moose crossing signs, the potential for one or more wandering onto the road is always there.

Police say always use high beams where possible, scan shoulders and check your speed, especially in marked areas.

At one-point last year, the north eastern OPP reported nearly 50 per cent of all collisions involved a moose.
