The OPP has taken a pro-active approach to combatting distracted driving in partnership with a business in Kapuskasing.
Just before the long weekend kicked off, officers stopped vehicles in the Circle, not to give out tickets, but to hand out free Bluetooth devices which were donated by Spacek’s AVU.
The area’s new Detachment Commander Mike Pilon was among the officers handing out the ear pieces.
Pilon says something like this has perfect timing, coming after two big safety initiatives were carried out by the OPP in the Northeast.
The owner of Spacek’s, Gary Fortin says it’s part of the local business putting its money where its mouth is.
