As of today we have a new Miss Kapuskasing, Liette Croteau, a student at Universite de Hearst.
Winter carnivals in the north are often a big part of the miss-town pageants held in the region, much like Miss Chemo in Cochrane.
One of the organizers, Lori-Ann Duguay says it’s a long process and contestants are evaluated in many different categories.
She says characteristics like confidence, humility and deference are looked at closely, adding the winners and the contestants are ambassadors for the town.
The event has been ramping up since January 21st, coming to a close last night with eight contestants.
