Mild Beginning to Winter Affecting Northern Economy

Temperatures are finally at seasonal norms for a northern winter, however the lack of snow fall has severely affected winter sports.

From skiing and snow boarding to snowmobiling, the weather has affected everything from gas stations to vehicle sales to equipment sales and rentals.

Remi Ski Hill in Moonbeam doesn’t have snow making capabilities and even the ski hills which do in the region are not yet open.

With only 15 centimetres of snow expected in the next two weeks residents may be waiting even longer to hit both the slopes and the sled trails.
