Kapuskasing Flyers Food Drive a Success

Sirens were blaring through town Wednesday  in Kapuskasing.

Not because of an emergency, but because EMS and police teamed up with the Kapuskasing Flyers and Peewee Icehawks for their annual food drive.

Ray Gagnon from the local food bank says 4,500 pounds and food and $1,000 has been donated by the community.

Head of Recreation for the town of Kapuskasing, Marc Clavelle says the teams hit a snag when the drive began.

He says the fire hall received a call and had to dispatch its vehicles leaving some groups without transportation for the first hour of the drive.

He says despite the setback it was a hugely successful evening for all the partners.
