Kap Food Bank’s holiday tree to table fundraising campaign returns

After a very successful debut, the Tree to table Christmas fundraising campaign is back for the Kapuskasing Food Bank. Coordinator Darlene Vanderveer says the organization expects to help about 300 families in the community have a Christmas meal.

“There’s always an uptick from November to December,” she said. “There are a lot of different factors involved in that, but especially around the Christmas season. It is really really amazing to see how much the community pulls together.”

Vanderveer says even the smallest contribution can make a big difference.

“You can go and you can say maybe $75 is actually a lot of people especially right around the holidays,” she said. “But you can also donate the value of a pie or I can donate the value of a ham, or a turkey or vegetables for someone’s table.”

Food bank staff and volunteers will be set up at the various Christmas markets this weekend. The campaigns runs until the end of the month allowing time to prepare the meal boxes for the families.
