Kap History – new ambulance in town has a busy first nine months in 1964

A busy first year for the ambulance donated by the Kinsmen Club to the town of Kap is the subject of our look at local history.

A story in the January 13th, 1965 edition of the Northern Times reported that during the first nine months of 1964 there were 107 calls for ambulance service including 96 within town limits and 11 out of town.

The slowest month for the ambulance was June, while the farthest trip taken was to Toronto.

It cost the town about $1,467 to operate the ambulance in the first nine months.

The Kinsmen Club raised the money for the new vehicle through the 129-club draw and dance.
