Jogues Mudfest provides more excitement for racing fans in mid-August

Another racing event in our area is about two weeks from waving the green flag. Jogues Mudfest is back Friday, August 14 to Sunday August. 16th.

Mudfest follows demolition derbies in Kapuskasing, Iroquois Falls and Hearst, as well as snowmobile races in Cochrane and Timmins.

Spokesperson Daphnee Brunet says crowds in Jogues keep growing every year, adding there is something about racing that appeals to those in the region.

“Being down to what people love in the area they love to drive their ATVs, and they like to just be in the mud. I think people just like those kind of events to bring family and friends together:”

Brunet says she’s expecting over 50 competitors from across Northern Ontario and even as far away as Thunder Bay and Toronto.

She notes that preparation of the track has already started.

“Getting around the track ready right now so we have guys mowing the lawn, dragging where gravel is. And a week before we are going to put water in our hole and then with a tiller behind a tractor we are going to make some mud.”

Mudfest features a variety of vehicles going head-to-head in a strip of mud, plus music and a $10,000 draw.

Tickets and information available on the Jogues Mudfest Facebook page.
