New forest fire activity reported

Two new and relatively small forest fires are burning in our region.

MNR fire information officer Isabelle Chenard says one of them was reported at 10:45 this morning, 33 km southeast of Foleyet, near Montgomery Lake. It’s only point-one hectares.

Yesterday afternoon, a blaze was confirmed south of Timmins.

“It is located east of Hwy. 144 and south of Hwy.560,” Chenard reports, “so just kind of southeast of the Watershed.”

That’s to the southwest of Three Corner Lake.

It’s covering three hectares of wildland and Chenard says two crews are making good progress on it.
