French Catholic school board releases song produced by JK-12 students

A very unusual project by the French Catholic school board in our region has resulted in a theme song for the board, with heavy involvement from students.

Some professionals were brought in to help, but the board’s information director René Gaudreau  says the bulk of the credit goes to 17 students and a 40-student choir.

“Classes from junior kindergarten to Grade 12 who participated in creating the words to go with it, identifying the themes they wanted in the song,” he remarks. “And we also had another bunch of students working on creating beats that would get into the song.”

The song has been distributed to French-language radio stations between Hearst and Ottawa.

“We’re hoping it’s going to have a good run,” says Gaudreau. “The students are proud, we’re proud and I think this song will outlast me at the school board. I think we’re going to be singing it for years to come.”
