Youth basketball on the rise in Kapuskasing

Youth basketball is growing in Kapuskasing. That’s according to association spokesperson Susan Renaud who is thrilled with the early numbers that sees more than 100 children signed up for a spring league.

She adds that the interest of former basketball players in town wanting to help out is very encouraging heartwarming.

“It’s fantastic seeing coaches who coached before coming back to coach,” she said. “Kids who are now young adults who coached before. Folks who maybe played in high school now they are parents and their young children are starting out.”

Renaud says registration for the under eight division is full, but there is still room for those boys’ and girls’ grades 3 to 8 to sign up and play. The spring league tips off just after easter until mid-May and plays twice a week including some weekends.

“More information can be found you can find out Kapuskasing Minor Basketball Facebook page,” she said. “You can also email us at Kapuskasing Basketball at G-mail dot com, if you have any questions or want to learn more about our spring league, our program or getting involved.”
