The Conservative Member of Parliament for Kapuskasing-Timmins-Mushkegowuk welcomes Thursday’s announcement that the Crawford Nickel Project north of Timmins has been designated a special project.
That moves it into the Liberal government’s Major Projects Office to streamline approvals and move it ahead with a minimum of red tape.
Gaétan Malette calls it important for our region and for Canada. He says the designation sends a clear signal that Northern Ontario is at the centre of Canada’s critical mineral future.
Malette is associate shadow minister of natural resources. He says Crawford proves that when industry, indigenous communities and all levels of government work together, we can build prosperity while advancing Canada’s clear energy goals.
