One-on-one pre-natal nutrition program available

The Canada Pre-Natal Nutrition Program is offered by Northeastern Public Health.

Dietitian Caitlin Minard says the one-on-one program aims to improve parent and infant health by reducing the incidence of unhealthy birth weight, which is common in high-risk populations.

“People who are eligible to join are really individuals who are experiencing or who are more likely to face barriers to health during pregnancy,” she explains.

The program is tailored to the individual’s needs.

“We cover key topics that are important and relevant to their life,” Minard says. “Things like food budgeting, meal planning, food prepping like making homemade baby food for example, breastfeeding, healthy eating, introducing sold foods to babies, things like that.”

To determine your eligibility and then register, contact Northeastern Public Health at 1-877-442-1212.
