Kap Kraze summer tailgate party and demolition derby returns on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26 to the Sports Palace parking lot.
Tourism and Special events coordinator Kelly Kraby says the popular smash up derby will feature a record number of 56 participants so far. She adds that they’ve even opened up one of the last events to get more in.
“We’ve made the decision to open up the junk run category to an unlimited number of entries that’s going to be like the main event,” she said. It’s going to be the last event of the demolition derby. The junk run is like the vans and the SUVs.”
Kraby says the number of people coming out to watch the smash-up derby on the Saturday continues to grow that they’ve had to increase the venue size.
“If they can bring those in we are just going to search them at security when they come in,” she said. “but bring your own chairs to the derby because seating is limited in those bleachers but there is a lot of room to put up chairs.”
Live local music from the back of a pick-up truck and fireworks headlines Friday’s line-up, while Saturday night it’s Jason McCoy and The RoadHammers. Tickets are available at The Welcome Centre.
