Joe Sensenbrenner visits town developed by his great grandfather

The great grandson of one of the founding fathers of Kapuskasing, FJ Sensenbrenner, says the people’s spirt, integrity and energy helped build the community what it is today.

Joe Sensenbrenner spoke to a large crowd during a forestry legacy celebration at Riverside Park.  He says renewing the land and the forest back in 1927 was important then as it is now.

“Where younger people can understand and learn about the roots of this community and about the kind of energy and character that it has can be and will be contributed in the future as we protect our environment.”

Sensenbrenner, who calls Wisconsin home, says it’s been about 13 years between visits.

“Mary Ellen and I my wife fist came here in 2012 and we are again struck at the stories that I heard much younger were stories that were being repeated were stories that were part of the depth and the character of the community.”

Sensenbrenner says the hospitality of the community hasn’t changed since that last visit.
