An eight-month long joint drug operation between Nishnawbe Aski Police, Timmins Police and the OPP has wrapped up with 22 people being charged with a total of 130 offences.
Nishnawbe Aski Police Acting Detective Inspector Chris Eisenbach says six search warrants in Attawapiskat and 14 in Timmins turned up property worth $1.2-million.
“Officers connected to Project Albion located and seized more than $300,000 in cash;” he detailed, “significant quantities of drugs including fentanyl, crystal meth, methamphetamine pills, cocaine, oxycodone, hydromorphone pills, morphine pills, some magic mushrooms, lorazepam, Ritalin and MNDA.”
Also seized were five vehicles, a gun and a tazer. Search warrants were executed up until last Thursday.
Police and Nishnawbe Aski Nation officials say the eleven drugs were on their way from Timmins to Moose Factory and Attawapiskat. They add that this might interrupt the supply, but continuing enforcement is needed.
