Timmins and Kapuskasing are hosting two Walks for Alzheimer’s events this weekend. The Timmins activity is Saturday at 10 am at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion, while in Kapuskasing participants can gather at the Riverside Park Pavilion on Sunday also at 10.
Cochrane-Temiskaming Alzheimer’s Society executive director Tracy Koskamp-Bergeron says all of their staff will be at each event to answer questions.
“You get to put a face to the name, and really just come out and see what we offer and see how we can help your family because the thing for us that we want people to know is that you are never alone,” she said.
She adds she even though these events are fundraisers, it more about awareness.
“We want families that are kind of starting or going through their experience of living with dementia with their loved one to know that there are services available for them and there is support,” she said. “And our services don’t cost anything for anybody the only thing that does cost is our day program.”
She adds the society hopes to raise over $10,000 for the region it serves from Hearst to Temiskaming. For further information check out the Walk for Alzheimer’s website.
