Preparations continue for Kap Kraze country festival in July

Ticket sales are picking up as Kap Kraze the summer country festival approaches in Kapuskasing at the end of July.

It begins on Friday, July 24th in the parking lot across from the Sports Palace with a tailgate party, live local music and fireworks followed by the demolition derby, vendor booths and the concert on Saturday, July 25th.

Tourism and special events coordinator Kelly Kraby says they’ve added a bunch of new attractions to the line-up that are fun for the whole family.

“We have a new attraction called Jelly Ball, which is like Paintball but it doesn’t hurt and there is no mess,” she said. “We also have the Wreck-Room which is if you don’t want to smash up a car in the derby you can still go and smash up some items in a trailer with all safety so that’s gonna be fun.”

Kraby said they’ve also included new food trucks into the marketplace and bringing in Jed The Mechanical Bull.

She added they are hoping to hit the 4,000 mark in attendance for the Demotion Derby.

“We already have 15 registrations so far, a lot of people from out of town are showing interest in participating,” she said. “So we encourage all of our locals to come and sign up for the derby and let us know you are gonna be in on that.”

The concert on the Saturday features The RoadHammers with Jason McCoy as well as Ryan Langdon.

Tickets are available at the Welcome Centre or though Event Brite.
