A solar energy presentation was made to Kapuskasing Town Council on Monday night.
Diamond Renewable Energy head of sales Corey Jackson says his company wants to create a partnership with the community and offer better energy solutions and savings for residents.
“With this program going forward we would get rid of some of the town assets, and benefit residents day one,” he said. “It would be owner up front install costs and then quicker savings. The return on investment of the actual systems on average are about two to three years sooner.”
As part of the partnership, Jackson said the company would visit with home and business owners to discuss their energy costs and see if they qualify for solar energy panels. He added the installation cost of a panel is about $40,000.
Jackson doesn’t believe a relationship like this exists in Canada right now.
“So we would be promoting Kapuskasing as a township of renewable energy residents first – savings renewables is all in one with this proposal, as far as I know you would be the first,” he said.
