Kapuskasing’s Sensenbrenner Hospital and the Centre de Sante are teaming up to provide bilingual grief support group sessions starting Wednesday May 21st.
The meetings will run about 90 minutes from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Centre de Sante with a new topic discussed each week for six weeks.
Support worker Chantal Belanger-Lacroix says group therapy programs were lacking in the community and is looking forward to filling that void. She adds anyone who has suffered a loss is welcome to attend.
“French or English speaking who is experiencing grief or who has experienced grief due to the loss of a love one,” she said. “It can be a separation. It doesn’t have to be a death. It can be a separation, it can be a loss of a job.”
Belanger-Lacroix says the sessions will start as fully bilingual.
“We’re doing a trial to see if it’s going to work bilingually and if we see that it’s not working we’re going to offer groups for only English speaking and French only,” she added.
No pre-registration is required and for further information you can contact the hospital or the Centre de Sante.
