Kap History- Hearst Dance Recital

A dance recital in Hearst is the subject of this week’s Kapuskasing history segment.

The photo of the happy event appeared in the July 4th, 1962 edition of the Northern Times.  Seventeen year old Julie Plouffe taught 30 children ages 4 to 17 how to dance. During the recital, the group presented a number of difference dances from the Charleston to the Twist.

In attendance for the show was Plouffe’s teacher Rayette Warren of Timmins. All money raised benefited the Royal Canadian Legion in Hearst building fund. We appreciate the Kapuskasing Public Library for providing us with content for the weekly segment.
