Kapuskasing volunteer firefighters collect food Tuesday night

Kapuskasing Volunteer Firefighters are holding their annual food drive tomorrow starting at 6 pm. You are asked to leave your non-perishable food items at curbside and the firefighters will be by to pick them up.

Food Drive chairman Nicolas Isabelle says the event isn’t just limited to in town residents.

“And all streets of Kap will be collected, including our rural roads within the municipality,” he said. “So we will have trucks doing our rural roads just outside of our more populated areas.”

Isabelle says they’ve team up with the three car dealerships in town to take donations if you won’t be home.

“There will be drop offs until this Friday,” he said. “So anyone that misses our collection is more than welcome to drop by any of the three dealerships, and one of our volunteers will go by on Friday and collect those donations at the drop off locations.”

The firefighters hope to exceed previous year’s totals of 5,000 pounds of food and $2,000 in cash collected.
