Hair-a-thon event takes place Sunday in Kapuskasing

Shave and a haircut for a great cause this Sunday in Kapuskasing! It’s a Hair-a-thon from 8 am to 5 pm at the former Source location in the Mall raising money for Alexander Belanger who has had an acute form of Leukemia since the age of seven.

Organizer Mireille Dubosq says seven hair stylists have volunteered their time to cut hair and all money donated will go towards the Belanger family.

“There’s a set price list so prices are between 20 dollars and 30 dollars depending on the style,” she said. “There will be a bunch of raffles, a large penny sale.”

Dubosq says there’s been a tremendous outpouring of support with donations from individuals and local businesses.

“The beauty parlor is going to be for kids who don’t necessarily don’t want to get a haircut,” she said. “They can still get their hair styled, cool colours, braided. We’re going to have some volunteers paint nails.

. The Hair-a-thon hopes to collect between eight and 10 thousand dollars.
