Kap man up on several charges

Responding to a report of a stolen vehicle set up a domino effect for Kapuskasing OPP.

On Friday afternoon, they spotted the vehicle on Government Rd.  It wouldn’t stop, travelling at 120 km/h in a 50 zone.

A while later, they found the vehicle parked at a business on Brunetville Rd. The driver was found to be in possession of stolen property and a small amount of suspected fentanyl He was arrested for impaired driving.

He was also connected to three shoplifting calls that day, and one from eight days earlier.

Here is the full list of charges against the 29-year-old Kap resident.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Failure to comply with release order (two counts)
  • Failure to comply with undertaking (three counts)
  • Theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Theft under $5000 – shoplifting (four counts)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – opioid
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence
