NAPS reports overdose surge

The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service is warning of extremely toxic drugs circulating in its territory in Northeastern Ontario.  That’s partly based on a surge in overdoses reported this month — some of them fatal.

As usual, fentanyl is the culprit.  The service warns that the synthetic opioid can be made more dangerous by being cut into other drugs.

In addition, fentanyl is often dyed different colours, making it difficult to identify. Police say that disclosing the colour in any particular case can lead to a false sense of security for users.
