Everything is on track for Kapuskasing town council meetings to be livestreamed on the internet.
Municipal clerk Chantal Guillemette says it’s the technological way of being an open government. The stream will be integrated into the council meeting portal on the town’s website.
“Everything will be available and archived on our meeting portal and also on our YouTube channel,” the clerk says. “Hopefully it’ll be an easier way to get the public engaged and participate in our council meetings.”
It might not be glitch-free, but there will be a livestream of the council meeting next month. Guillemette says it will prove whether any technical difficulties are still hanging around.
“Which will also be noted as we’re still testing to make sure everything functions properly, and hopefully after that meeting, it’ll be an easy transition to click on the livestream option, and the public will be able to view it.”
The archived recordings of the livestream will include a function where, as you watch a previous meeting, you can click ahead to any particular agenda item you want.
