Town of Kap fire chief stepping down from post

The Town of Kap is looking for a new fire chief and general manager of protective services. Pat Kennedy will step aside from both positions at the end of the month to return to the mining sector.

He said in a letter to the town that he will be staying on as a volunteer firefighter something that he has been a part of for 17 years. Kennedy has been a fire chief and head of protective services for the past 8.5 years.

Kennedy was also in charge of the evacuation program for the past seven years when the town was hosting forest fire and flood evacuees from the far north.

It’s the second vacancy of a major position at town hall, with general manager of public works Eric Cote announcing his departure a couple of months ago. His last day is Sunday.
