Conservative MP brings ‘spike the hike’ campaign to outside NDP Member’s office

The latest Conservative party battle in the House of Commons against the Liberal government’s carbon tax increase was lost.  But the war continues.

Wednesday in Timmins, outside the office of local New Democratic MP Charlie Angus,Eastern Ontario Conservative MP Eric Duncan rallied troops against next Monday’s planned hike of 23% on gas – about three cents a litre.

“This is not sustainable and this is only adding to food bank use;” Duncan told supporters, ”to skyrocketing rates of Canadians that are struggling to make ends meet, and what we need to do is we need to spike the hike coming up on April the 1st.”

The MP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, in the Cornwall area, says the government should “spike the hike” and “axe the tax” entirely.

“It has failed and the rebates that the Liberals are offering have been shredded. Canadians are paying more out in carbon taxes than they get back in any rebates. And the worst is yet to come.”
