Kap Mayor says lots to learn from lengthy power outage over the weekend in area

Kapuskasing town council took an earful from residents concerned about the lack of services being offered including warming stations during the lengthy power outage in the area over the weekend.

Administration told the crowd that the Civic Centre was open and available but no one took advantage of it.

Mayor Dave Plourde says there’s lots to learn from the outage for the future emergency situations.

“Something a little better has to happen and that we are going to work diligently to make sure in the future that we can do what is necessary to make sure everyone is well informed,” he said. “But recognizing that we do have plans in place but it’s how we implement them going forward.”

Plourde says the whole matter will be under review at a future meeting.

“Protective services will be dealing with that issue at a future meeting, and we’ll ensure that the public’s thinking is brought to the attention of the committee,” he said.
