Dan St. Jean’s been there, and now talks about his addiction recovery

A 52-year-old man says too many people in his hometown of Iroquois Falls are addicted to drugs and in some cases, it’s killing them.

Dan St. Jean will share his own experience with cocaine and booze addiction on Sunday, April 28th at the Lions Den in the Falls — the 27th anniversary of being clean, with no relapse. His message is for addicts and the people who love them.

“I’m going to tell them how I got to treatment and what I did in treatment and what I did after treatment,” says St. Jean. “But basically, let them know that there’s nothing they can do, unless the person wants to better themselves.”

St. Jean already speaks regularly at the treatment centre in Hearst and the detox facility in Smooth Rock Falls.  Restating his purpose, he says his message is “hope”.

“That’s all it is, and people can do what they want with what I say, but at least I will have done what I can to try and help the community.”

More information is on the Iroquois Falls News and Events Facebook page.  You can hear more of Dan St. Jean’s experience in the link below.
