One of the highlights of the first weekend of Big Winter Festiglace in Kapuskasing was the vintage snowmobile showcase that took place at La Forge Saturday afternoon.
More than 60 sleds from days gone by were on display for people to check out and ask questions.
Participants Jamie Rickard and Jason Chmelik say the restoration of old snowmobiles vary from a couple of months to even several years. Rickard says looking for part is always an interesting chase.
“Some of it could be easy while some parts might be difficult. You might have to look at marketplace or different venues like that or in the states of course. You’ve got to be patient and keep at it and hopefully you get luck when you are trying to find something.”
“My 1961 Bombardier, cause it’s the oldest sled I own and it was a hard one to restore just to try and track down all of the correct parts,” said Rickard.
“I think my 92 Plus-X was my favourite, it was a very rare sled so you probably never seen one before,” Chmelik added.
