Several changes made to this weekend’s Big Winter Festiglace

The mild weather conditions this week is forcing a number of changes to the schedule of Big Winter Festiglace that set for this weekend in Kapuskasing.

Tourism and special events coordinator Kelly Kraby says the Rotary Club’s bay dip challenge has been moved out of the Kap River Bay due to the thin ice conditions.

“So we’re going to bring the bay dip into that parking lot down in the bay with the swimming pool, fill it with river water,” she said. “It’s still a go, people worked really hard on their fundraising efforts. We don’t want to see let that go so come and support people down in the bay parking lot.”

“The showcase is still on the show and shine, even despite this news we still have new registrations coming in yesterday,” she said. “We still have about almost 50 sleds that are going to be on display there people getting them ready.”

The Dog Sled Tours scheduled for Sunday and Monday are still a go, and have been moved to Ecole Secondaire Cite des Jeunes.
