Notre Dame Hospital Foundation in Hearst gets big donation for expansion project

The Notre Dame Hospital Foundation in Hearst received a major boost for its ongoing expansion project.

Director Francine Laberge says the Molson (Family) Foundation gave them $250,000 that will help with the plans that include changing the former physiotherapy department into a medial pharmacy.

She adds that the spokesperson for the Molson group recently completed cancer treatments so the project hit close to home.

“When we mentioned that the addition was built in order for us to continue offering Chemotherapy treatments in Hearst, it really touched her and she really reached out and she was determined to help us out,” she said.

Laberge says it was a lengthy process to secure the funding.

“So this was basically part of a larger fundraising activity and not just going to our local donors,” she said. “We were really trying to think outside the box and in this case think country wide and even a little further.”
