The longest serving mayor of Timmins died on Saturday.
Vic Power would have turned 90 on February 22nd.
Power was elected to town council in 1966, and served continuously until being elected mayor of what by then was the City of Timmins in 1980. He was mayor until 1988, and again from 91 to 2000.
During his tenure, he served as chair of the Ontario Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities… and as a director of the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission and the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
Vic Power is survived by his wife Clarice, his son Kevin and a granddaughter.
