Equipment failure is being partly to blame for the nearly seven hour power outage for Northern Ontario Wires customers in Kapuskasing on Saturday. The outage that began just before 2 pm even had shoppers caught off guard.
General Manager Mark Belanger says the equipment problem was resolved in about 90 minutes but other technical issues delayed in power being restored.
He added that extra resources from Hydro One in Timmins were brought in and they were able to get some sections of town with power by 9:15.
A small sector near downtown didn’t have power until just after 10 pm.
