Dialysis unit upgrades is the target for hospital foundation in radiothon

Upgrades to the dialysis unit is what the Sensenbrenner Hospital foundation will be fundraising for during the 12 hour Moose FM Community Cares Radiothon next Friday, Dec. 8. Project manager Mireille Dubosq says there are three parts to project and hope to raise about $50,000.

“Part one being most of the renovations, part two being the pavement and the private parking lot,” she said. “Part three is the fire monitoring system and a back-up generator.”

She adds that the current unit is heavily used by people in the region.

“Quite a few people travelling all the way from Calstock to Smooth Rock coming to Kapuskasing to receive treatment three times a week, four hours a day,” she said. “Even with just the people from Calstock spend anywhere between seven hours a good day three times a week travelling to our hospital.”

She adds that plans also include a separate entrance so patients don’t have to walk through the hospital. To make a donation on the day of the radiothon, you can either call the foundation office or give it in person.
