Angel Tree Campaign begins with NEOFACS

The Northeastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services Angel Tree campaign kicked off on Friday morning at Walmart in Kapuskasing. Sylvie Boudreau says the annual holiday event allows you to stop by the Christmas tree at Walmart and buy a gift for a child who wouldn’t otherwise receive something at Christmas.

“They put some little ornament balls on the tree with an idea on the back with the types of gifts they can buy,” she said. “So it gives the shopper an idea to choose something without having to think about it and it’s things we need for the children and youth of our community.”

Boudreau says it’s important that the gifts are left unwrapped in the box.

“We can receive anything that is wrapped so it’s preferable that it’s unwrapped that we know what is going out,” she said. “Then we allow the families to wrap it themselves or bring them wrapped if that is their preference.”
