Gaetan Malette leads Timmins-James Bay Conservatives into the next federal election

Unless the minority Liberal government falls, the next federal election is on October 20th, 2025.

Gaetan Malette has announced that he’s the Conservative Party candidate for Timmins-James Bay.  Because of redistribution, it will cover the Highway 11 corridor to Hearst, up to James Bay and including Chapleau.

Malette says in the past, Conservatives decided too late to run.

“To remove someone like Mr. (longtime incumbent NDP MP Charlie) Angus, and I respect him as an individual,” Malette declares. “You can’t decide that at the last minute. I have to work hard at this and if I work hard, I will have a good chance to win.”

Malette, who says he is “69 years young”, worked for the family lumber business.  He then went on to executive positions with other lumber and mining companies and says he’s now in his third career as a volunteer, mostly in health care, but other sectors as well.

He believes that party leader Pierre Poilievre is the man to lead the entire country.

“About a year ago, he warned the leading government that we have to be careful with our fiscal responsibilities, and he’s one of the first ones who saw the inflation and what was going to happen, and something has to be done.”
