The Kapuskasing Fire Department is gearing up for its annual food drive. It’s set for Tuesday, October 24th at 6 pm. Fire chief Pat Kennedy says it’s easy to take part by placing non-perishable food items in a box or a bag.
“We ask for people to put food at the end of the driveway so it makes it quick and easy for us to make sure we get all of the streets done in a timely matter and also brought to the food bank at a reasonable time,” he said.
If you would like to make a cash donation, Kennedy says they are always appreciated.
“If they wanna give money they can either wait until the people that are driving by and to hand it to one of the firefighters or they can drop it off at the fire hall prior to the event,” he said.
In the past few years, the food drive has collected about 5,000 pounds of food and just over $1,000 in cash.
