Networking events and other services offered to newcomers across the district

A welcoming network lunch at the Cochrane Public Library next Saturday, October 14 is open to any newcomer or immigrant in the district.

Jaspreet Kaur is the welcoming communities coordinator for the Timmins and District Multicultural Centre.  She says events like this one across the district connect newcomers to community resources.

“Timmins and District Multicultural Centre offers peer and citizenship assistance, translation services, orientation to Ontario, social and networking events, employment, sport and community connections as well,” she outlines.

“Apart from this, I run hybrid English conversation circles with the collaboration of the Timmins Public Library and North Bay District Multicultural Centre as well.  Participants can practice their English in a very safe space.”

A good place to become acquainted with all of that and with other newcomers… is at the lunch on Saturday, October 14th between 11:30am and 1:30pm at the library in Cochrane There’s no charge for it.

You can also contact the centre.
