NOJHL team suddenly arena-less

The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League franchise in Elliot Lake no longer has an arena, at least temporarily.

The Vikings and all other users have been forced out of Centennial Arena, amid structural concerns with the building.

Mayor Andrew Wannan says an inspection carried out on Monday indicates further inspection of the wooden structure is needed.

It’s unclear how long the closure will last.  The Vikings are now practicing in nearby Blind River and Massey. At least their next two home games will be played elsewhere. Next Friday, the game against Espanola will be in Espanola. The following Friday, they host the Sault Ste. Marie Thunderbirds in Blind River.
