Caisse Alliance banks from Opasatika to Smooth Rock Falls have partnered with the Sensenbrenner Hospital foundation to help the chemotherapy department. Bank regional director Chantal Lepage says starting this fall it’s providing comfort kits including a blanket to new patients getting treatment at the hospital.
“I think the chemo department here at Sensenbrenner is amazing, the nurses and the staff are doing an amazing job,” she said. “Last year alone in 2022 there was 558 chemo treatments given.”
Lepage says the patients were from Hornepayne to Cochrane and stayed closer to home instead of travelling longer hours to a larger centre.
She adds it’s an ongoing agreement aimed at helping as many patients as possible.
“The Caisse cares about the development of our northern communities,” she said. “So we’re actively trying to make a difference and on a long term basis.”
