The Northern Ontario Walleye Trail makes a stop in the Model Town this weekend. Anglers hit the water Friday at 8 am in the Kapuskasing River Walleye Tournament. Chairman Don McInnis says about 104 teams from across the north are taking part in the live catch and release event.
“The largest walleye per day will win the angler $1,000,” he said. “First place prize whoever comes in for the biggest bag at the end of the two days will win a grand prize of $11,000 in cash. Second place will be six thousand. We will pay down to the 15th spot.”
McInnis invites everyone to come watch the anglers either at the boat launch on Fred Flat Road or during the final weigh-in at the Sports Palace.
“The top 10 teams from the day before will take place their spot on the stage and their weights will be disclosed Saturday at roughly five o’clock,” he said. “Just to add a little excitement to see if they did good day one see how they could do day two.”
