It could be December at the earliest before the Stephane Lecours Swimming Pool in Hearst is reopened. A delay in ordering specific equipment for the HVAC is the reason according to CAO Eric Picard. He says the remainder of the work should be wrapped up by the end of August.
“We’ve tried to look at alternatives with both the contractor, the architect, local businesses, it’s a custom made part for the heating and recovery system the whole HVAC system,” he said. “Every alternative we thought of has put us even further beyond the date.”
He adds the original construction at the pool has at times left town staff and contractors scratching their heads.
“We’ve been dealing with a lot of things like plans say we should have structured columns inside the walls and then when we open the walls up there’s no columns — so poor structure there,” he said. “So every time something like that happens back to the drawing board. Often we are relying on various things like that. And it’s been like that across the whole project.”
