The MPP for Mushkegowuk James Bay says the Ford government must prioritize healthcare in the north including improvements to emergency air transportation. Guy Bourgouin says he was saddened to hear about the death of a patient at Hearst’s Notre Dame Hospital because of critical delays in transferring to another hospital 400 km away.
“This is an example of the lack of funding, lack of pay in attracting and bring people into this field,” he said. “We have brought this to the attention of the government. We see that hospitals are fighting to keep open, and it’s another example of the government needing to invest money for the north.”
He says ORNGE shouldn’t be short changed on funding.
“This service is throughout Northern Ontario and far north and James Bay coast,” he said. “They depend on it. This situation repeats itself this could cost again more lives. And we say enough is enough. The Liberals failed….failed when they were in power they started the problem and the Conservatives now are doing the same.”
