Moonbeam the place to be for Canada Day celebrations

Moonbeam is the place to be to celebrate Canada Day. Activities from morning to night are scheduled between the Community Centre and Ouellette’s Bay at Remi Lake. Community Services and Economic Development Officer Remi Nolet says a marathon through the nature trails starts it all at 8 am.

“So people can discover our nature trails at the same time,” he said. “Everyone is going to leave the Community Centre for the nature trails in various distances so 5 km, 10 km, 20 km, so people can decide when they register basically.”

Remi Lake events include a boat parade, bouncy castles for the kids, washer and volleyball tournaments, as well as live music.

He adds that fireworks are scheduled for the end of the night, but will depend largely on the fire ban.

“Obviously security comes first and that there are still fires in the region as we see the damage it is causing right now,” he said. “If the fire ban is in effect we will have to work around that basically.”
