The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fire at 13 Richmond Street in Kapuskasing on Monday after 9 pm.
Fire chief Pat Kennedy says the fire was contained to the top apartment. Kennedy says 12 families were displaced from the blaze and won’t be allowed back into their homes until an assessment has been completed.
He noted the importance of having renter’s insurance to replace lost contents.
The building was once the housing quarters for CFS Lowther.
