A 17-year old Kapuskasing girl has a lot to be proud of in the sport of weightlifting.
Naza Grant will be competing at a Commonwealth event in India later this summer and will soon be off to the Canadian Junior Nationals in Montreal. Grant says she got involved in the sport to help her train for her other love figure skating.
“I started just like for fun when I was 13, and I guess I really got serious I guess when I was 15, 16 years-old and I am 17 now,” she said.
Grant has even loftier goals, a future Olympics.
“I would like to and that’s what my end goal is to go to the Olympics that’s what I’m striving for,” she said. “I have to build up my total to get stronger and build up my total to qualify for the Olympics.”
She adds that weightlifting has been positive for her that shows empowering strong women.
