Kap Veterinary Services Committee needs town council’s help with recruitment

The chairperson of the Kapuskasing Veterinary Services committee wants town council’s help to find a new Veterinarian. Selina Rogers of Kap River Farms says the committee needs both ongoing financial assistance and putting recruiters in the right locations at schools across the country.

“We are actively working with the Hearst VSC committee and looking at forming a veterinary recruitment and retention program similar to what is taking place with doctors and clinics at the hospitals,” she said.

Rogers says everyone has benefited from the great work of the current Veterinarian Dr. Ramkumar who has mentioned that he will retire in the next several years.

“He has done a tremendous job,” she said. “He is dedicated his life here and we all truly appreciate what he has sacrificed to look after our pets and our livestock.”

She adds that if anyone is interested in helping with the committee, they should reach out to her or the Hearst group to get involved in a number of areas including fundraising.
