Town of Hearst holding Homecoming in August

Planning is underway for a homecoming celebration to mark the 100th birthday of the town of Hearst. Economic Development Officer Lydia Rodrigue  says the committee has gone all out to think of every activity possible for the week of August 3rd to August 9th.

“Outdoor excursions, we have a guided forest tour, a guided agriculture tour,” she said. “We have arm wrestling tournaments, volleyball tournaments, golf tournaments, community barbecue. We have piñata’s, inflatables, games for kids and games for the not so young.”

And if you’re thinking of coming to town, Rodrigue points to the Hearst tourism website as a good first step.

“We have pages where you can stay, we have all the campgrounds, numbers to hotels, everything,” she added. “There’s a few people too that are allowing us to list them as campgrounds, even though they are not campgrounds, they are allow us to stay on their land basically.”
